President Bola Tinubu will address Nigerians on Thursday, October 1, at 7am to commemorate the 66th independence anniversary celebration of Nigeria.
A statement issued on Wednesday by special adviser on information and strategy to the president, sBayo Onanuga, advised all television and radio stations, and other electronic media platforms to link up with the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) for the broadcast.
JESNews correspondent reports that this will be the fourth time President Tinubu will speak to the nation on Independence Day since he assumed office on May 29, 2023.
The Independence Day address by the president has become a tradition to mark Nigeria’s independence from colonial rule by the British on October 1, 1960.
During the nationwide broadcast, Tinubu is expected to focus on the state of the nation and point out the policies of his administration.
Just like in 2025, the federal government informed that the 2026 Independence Day celebration would be low-key, with emphasis being placed on reflection rather than many festivities.
