President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has launched an accusation on NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for peddling reckless lies on Federal Government’sinvestment in sports.
Making his accusation in a post on X while reacting to Obi’s call for increased Federal Government investment in the sports sector, Onanuga said, “Headlines don’t lie like Peter Obi lies, recklessly”.
The presidential spokesperson further criticised Obi’s record on sports during his eight years as Anambra State Governor, alleging that the state’s sportsmen and women received poor treatment.
Onanuga further said that physically challenged athletes in Anambra were treated “shabbily” during the tenure of Obi.
While questioning Obi’s demand for greater Federal Government investment in sports, Onanuga said that the former lacks the moral ground to make such demand given his antecedents in political office.
“Today, he talks, very glibly, of course, about the need for the FG to invest in sport, when, as governor for 8 years, he treated Anambra sportsmen j women and even, unconscionably, the physically challenged sportsmen and women shabbily,” he wrote.
