After so.much pressure, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has cleared the governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, , Abdulsalam Gwarzo, to contest the 2027 Kano State governorship election.
While confirming that Gwarzo had met all the requirements and was eligible to contest the election, the election umpire said the clearance was conveyed in a letter issued to the NDC leadership in Kano on Thursday.
With the clearance, Gwarzo has become one of the early candidates to be officially cleared by INEC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In their reaction to the clearance , supporters of the NDC candidate in Kano told JESNews correspondent that the decision by the INEC w as a key step towards reclaiming the state from the grip of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Gwarzo, a former commissioner in Kano State, is slated to officially commence his campaign in the coming weeks.
