Deputy spokesperson of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign council, Sam Omale, has said presidential candidate of the party,Peter Obi, is in good health, attributing his lates tiredness to tasking campaign activities.
Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Tuesday, Omale stated that Obi had been urged to rest because of his demanding schedule, which sees him travelling between cities and attending several engagements.
NDC campaign council deputy spokesperson was reacting to concerns about the health of Obi, especially after his last campaign rally in Enugu state, following which he reportedly stated that he would take a break.
Omale stated that Obi was in a perfect state of health, noting that the tiredness would not affect his campaign activities.
“If you know the person of Mr Peter Obi, he is so passionate for this country and his pouring out his life. Sometimes, I wonder where he gets his energy from,” Omale said.
“Today, he is in London this night; the following morning, he is in Enugu. The exhaustion comes in. A human being is a human being.
“But he is in perfect health; nothing is wrong with him. It is just exhaustion, and we are trying to calm him down to take a sleep.
“He multitasks; if you see him, he is doing so many things at the same time. He is talking to you, he is answering questions, and he is replying to his emails.
“So, it is pure exhaustion, which definitely has no impact on the campaign we are conducting. He is going to continue the town halls before the main rallies begin. He is fine.”
But, when contacted for his reaction, national publicity secretary of the NDC, Osa Director, stated that he was not aware that the presidential candidate of the party had experienced exhaustion due to campaign activities.
The NDC spokesperson said he spent time with Obi in Bayelsa state.
“I knew nothing happened to Peter Obi. Honestly, I am not being sarcastic here. As far as I am concerned and as far as I know, Peter Obi is with his health,” he said.
“We were together in Bayelsa for a day. I learnt that he has travelled abroad now, and I know of people who escorted him to the tarmac.
“So, I don’t know where the story of exhaustion came from. So, Omale is in a better position to elucidate the point he has made.
“And I don’t know, but the national campaign council that I belong to is not doing anything to calm him down in any way.
“He has not done anything that requires us to calm him down personally”, added Osa Director.
