President Bola Tinubu has hosted five governors and members of his delegation to a dinner in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, where he used the forum to pray for the prosperity of Nigeria.
The governors present who attended the dinner were AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara; Mai Mala Buni of Yobe; Babagana Zulum of Borno; Uba Sani of Kaduna; and Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto
Other government officials present at the dinner included Lateef Fagbemi, attorney-general of the federation (AGF) and minister of justice; Ibrahim Masari, special adviser to the president on political affairs; Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser (NSA); and Femi Gbajabiamila, the president’s chief of staff.
Founder and executive chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, was also in attendance.
At the dinner table, President Tinubu prayed that God would turn Nigeria’s diversity into prosperity.
“God bless Nigeria and convert our diversity to prosperity as a country,” the president said.
Speaking at the dinner, BUA group founder Rabiu said the trip to Makkah gave another chance to pray for Nigeria
He stated that the delegation of Nigeria was grateful for the chance to pray not only for themselves and their families but also for the nation at this particular time.
“We are going to continue to support His Excellency in whatever capacity that we can. And definitely, as you all know, Mr President is very passionate about the country,” said Rabiu.
“He is working very hard and we will continue to support him.”
Rabiu said it was the third dinner president Tinubu had hosted with members of the delegation since landing in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Governor AbdulRazaq prayed for God to give Tinubu the strength, wisdom and courage to lead the nation.
“We are overwhelmed. Allah will continue to bless you. We will pray for you daily. Pray for Nigeria that you lead,” the governor said.
“And may Allah continue to strengthen you in making the right decisions. Strengthen your wisdom, your boldness, your audacity and your courage.”
JESNews reports that on October 28, the presidency announced that Tinubu would depart to Saudi Arabia on October 29 to perform Umrah, an Islamic spiritual exercise involving a pilgrimage to the holy city.
The presidency had said the visit would offer Tinubu an opportunity for “spiritual reflection, devotion, and prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability, and continued progress”.
