Nigerian singer and songwriter Specdo has opened up about the deeply personal experiences that inspired his forthcoming single, DaBoy, scheduled for release on September 18, 2026.
Speaking during an exclusive interview, the artiste described DaBoy as one of the most honest and emotionally significant records he has created. According to him, the song emerged from a difficult chapter marked by pain, disappointment, setbacks and the determination to rebuild.
“DaBoy is more than a song to me. It carries parts of my life, my struggles and everything I had to overcome,” Specdo said.
Although the record draws heavily from his personal journey, Specdo explained that its message extends beyond his own experiences. He hopes listeners facing hardship, rejection or uncertainty will hear parts of their own stories in the lyrics.
The creative process, he admitted, was far from straightforward. During a late-night studio session, Specdo initially struggled to find the right direction for the record. The breakthrough came when he stopped searching for an external idea and began reflecting on his own memories.
He also credited his friends, brother, producer and other members of his team for helping him translate those emotions into music.
For Specdo, real name Ajayi Solomon, the goal is to create what he calls an “infinity song a record with enough emotional depth and meaning to remain relevant across generations.
His connection to music began at an early age. Raised in a religious household by a pastor father and a mother actively involved in gospel music, he grew up surrounded by sound, worship and live musical expression. Those early influences would later shape his approach to songwriting and performance.
After spending time away from active music releases, Specdo says he is returning with renewed discipline and a stronger commitment to consistency.
He also expressed appreciation to his supporters for remaining patient throughout his absence.
To everyone who waited for me and continued to support me, I will never forget you. I want to repay that love by giving you music that is real and meaningful, he said.
Set for release on September 18, DaBoy marks the beginning of a new chapter in Specdo’s career. The single will be released under TMY Empire and distributed by Zentharon Worldwide.
As anticipation builds, Specdo hopes audiences will experience more than the song’s production and melody.
I want people to hear the story, feel the emotions and understand that even after difficult moments, it is possible to rise again,” he added.
DaBoy will be available across major digital streaming platforms from September 18, 2026.
